Dental Health Week runs from 3 to 8 August and this year’s theme is ‘How much sugar is hiding in your trolley’?
Dental Health Week is an opportunity to pull back the sugary curtain on the foods we eat and take a closer look at the hidden sugar in foods we may think are healthy.
“It can be difficult to monitor sugar intake, especially when some foods may appear healthy, but under the surface can contain a very high sugar content” said Westfund Chief Health Care Services Officer, Liz Casmiri.
“Being aware of what healthy sugar consumption is and a basic understanding of how to read food labels can help with regulating sugar intake and improving oral health”
“Having regular dental appointments is the key to staying on top of your dental health. Aiming to see your dentist every 6 to 12 months, eating and drinking well, brushing and flossing are all vital to maintaining healthy mouth and gums.” said Ms Casmiri.
Westfund Dental Care offers no out-of-pocket cost on many preventative services including check-ups for Westfund members, as well as generous benefits on other dental services. (Annual limits and waiting periods apply).
Non-members are also welcome at our Lithgow practice.
