Students at the Scots All Saints College’s Lithgow campus were pleased to welcome some special visitors.
Dental assistants Natasha Hampson, Natalie Schofield and Clinical Coordinator Johanna Staines from Westfund Dental Care Lithgow dropped in to the school to share their knowledge with students.
The visit was an opportunity for the children to learn about dental health and how important it is to keep teeth and gums healthy.
They were surprised to learn how much sugar was in some of their favourite drinks, and why it is important to limit sugar intake.
Students also learned more about the best way to brush their teeth to ensure that they’re cleaning gums as well.
Jo, Natasha and Natalie were all impressed by the students’ knowledge about healthy foods and what to expect when you visit the dentist.
“We love getting to visit schools to talk about why it’s important to look after not just teeth, but the whole mouth too,” said Natasha.
Another topic covered was the importance of mouthguards, with many students sharing their thoughts about why it was important to wear one while playing sports.
The visit was complete with an impromptu photobooth as students used some toothy smiles to take photos with the dental team.
